I have windows XP home edition. On occasions my computer freezes (trying to get this fixed at http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=66260

The freeze forces me to reboot the system. I was told that if you have windows XP then it does not test file system if you do a forced switch off and restart. However mine does check the file system.

Is there a setting somewhere which controls whether or not your file system needs to be checked?

control panel>admininstrative tools>computer management>disk management> see if you have ntfs or fat32?fat32 will check filesystem.

    Thanks reply.
    I do indeed have FAT32.
So there is no way to bypass the file system check, right?
