Checking mail through msn messenger - firefox

ok, i thought i'd uninstalled IE but clearly i haven't!
When msn messenger tells me that i have new mail i click on the popup or wherever it comes up and it opens IE and i want it to open in firefox!!!
can someone please run through the steps of uninstalling IE. I did try it in the add or remove windows components in add/remove programs by unchecking the IE box but it still seems to be on here!!!!

 

If its XP, you won't be uninstalling IE.

 

Have you made firefox your default browser yet?
In firefox go to tools/options/general then read the 4th section and check it to make firefox default browser.

 

MSN Messenger uses IE exclusivley, by the way.

 

ah right ok, its just something i'll have to live with then!

 

You could always try a web based Messenger which work with Mozilla/Firefox.

Some are only in Beta stage, and most are so you can chat via a browser, so I'm not sure if it's exactly what you want?

If you do a GooOOoGly search for web based messengers you will get a few, but HERE is the MSN Beta one.

Most just need a JavaScript enabled browser.
