I have a pretty good understanding of C#, and have been working with Direct3D. I'm wondering how to build an emulator. I've read that its fairly difficult so I've started off with the simplest of consoles, even though chip8 isnt really a console.

What I want to no is how I'd go about setting up a project for it. My understanding is that emulators open the game file take the commands translate them into commands that the computer can read and displays it on the screen. What should I be learning about that would definitely make me understand how to build an emulator? I have Chip8 documents but I don't understand how to take that information and apply it.

Hmm that is something probably a bit complicated, unless there is a lot of info on the platform your going to be reverse engineering it

Here is some good info on c++, I believe you will have to find a way to run assembly within c#

What your taking on is not easy, and if you manage to write it that will be quite respectable :)
