Reformatted yesterday, and everytime I boot into windows, checkdisk comes up and gives me option to skip etc as it does with XP.

    Any solutions?

Can't recall the solution, but I know it is a common problem. I would search this forum, and on the MS KB. I know there are solutions in both places.

Is there any thing in the event viewer, that might shine some more light, before going to MS????

Here are two solutions ....but I haven't verified them, so if you try, do a system restore point before you do so you can revert if it doesn't work.

    System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    Value Name: SFCDisable
    Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
    Value Data: 0 = enabled (default), ffffff9d = disabled
    OR:(Maybe
to prevent Scandisc ( checkdisc) running is as follows :
Go to "start" "run" and enter "cmd"
    Type the following ......... chkntfs /x c:
There are "spaces" between "s" and "/" and "x" and "c".
If you have more partitions add d ,e,f etc, leaving a space each tile after the
    colon.
    Accept and reboot.
This process has the effect of preventing defrag as the partition is waiting for
a disc check that wont now happen.

Do you have a scanner hooked up? (HP ScanJet 5100c)

Typically, the chkdsk on reboot happens within session manager.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\BootExecute

    REG_MULTI_SZ = autocheck autochk *

This is normal, if I were to initiate a chkdsk on my computer, I'd have:

    REG_MULTI_SZ =

    autocheck autochk /r \??\C:
    autocheck autochk *

Deleting the "autocheck autochk /r \??\c: (in my case) would elliminate this chkdsk procedure.

Also, Unlocker, and other file unlocking tools use the bootexecute portion to remove locked files.

Side note: I've been trying to figure out a way to use this, to run certain malware scans on a machine.

Thanks, that's seemed to fix it :)
