Chkdsk analysis?

Hi, all. I've been trying to figure out why my girlfriend's laptop (running XP) has been often running so slowly lately. I did the complete malware removal process here, and the computer's clean. I've cleaned out all the junk files.

I just ran the Check Disk function, and was wondering if someone here could look at the results? I don't know enough to really understand it. If so, I'll post the log.

A few file segments were listed as unreadable, and it said there was a bad cluster. Afterward, I ran CCleaner and got the following message in my notification area:

CCleaner.exe - Corrupt File

The file or directory [here it had a file location] is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Run scandisk (right click the hard drive and choose properties > click tools tab and then click under error checking Check Now put a check mark in Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors checkbox ~ PC will reboot to scan the hard drive and try and fix the errors, it will try and move the data from dammaged area of HDD and flag the area as unusable )

While this drive may still live a long and productive life, once you do start to get errors on the drive, its an early sign failure, so backup important data on a regular basis.

Halo, thank you for responding.

I ran it as you directed. The computer's still running slowly at times these days, and I can't figure out why. It only has 512 MB RAM, but it's always had that, and nothing run on it is very memory-intensive. There always seems to be plenty in reserve when I check.

Maybe it's just a result of an aging disk?

In any case, thanks again for your time.
