Chkdsk Report?

Used 'Event Viewer' to look at a CHKDSK log ('Wininit'), but couldnt find a 'length of time' (start and end time, etc) for how long the specific CHKDSK process took.
Thoughts ?

 

I just ran chkdsk from an elevated command prompt. The length of times were not listed in the Cmd Prompt window. I then looked in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application and found the chkdsk entry (as expected) at the top. Length of times were not listed there either.

I seem to recall from long ago and far away times used to be listed but I don't recall seeing them in a long time either. Frankly, I never really saw any value in those times other than appeasing my curiosity.

I can only assume Microsoft came to the same conclusion: there is no real value to track and report the times because there are too many variables affecting times that have absolutely nothing to do with the drive's status. So at some point in time, they updated chkdsk/Error Checking and removed that function.

Guess we were only interested in the length of time for help with scheduling a time frame for planning when to do the full 'file fix' and 'sectors recovery' chkdsk.
It seems to take a couple hrs, so we will just go with the overnite time frame.

 

Not sure if this helps, but one could write a .bat file like:
