chkdsk utility won't run

:confused Recently had a bunch of trojan viruses on computer that was able to get rid of thanks to MajorGeeks website (thanks!). However, now my new internet 8 version is running very, very slow and thought I'd run a chkdsk utility on the computer to do some cleaning. When I went to My Computer>C:>properties>etc., etc. to get to the chkdsk program, no boxes were checked and when I checked both options, it came back and said Windows was unable to run the program at this time. I went to the command line and tried it there, and it said that it couldn't because programs were using it at the time but did I want to run it at the next start up? I answered yes and then rebooted. Nothing happened. What to do next???

Its still very possible that you may have some malware left on your PC, running the Read Me Guide is superb but its always worth following up with attaching the logs from the guide in a new thread/post in the Malware forum we have, so that the experts can give them the once over, once given the all clear, we can proceed with looking for the cause and fix, but if malware is still on the system and potentially causing this, then you could be going around in circles until any malware is cleared first.
