chkdsk wont run

chkdsk wont run. i am familer with chkdsk and all of its commands. i never ran it on my laptop before but since programs were crashing i devided to give it a go. start->run->cmd-> chkdsk and volia errors found and cannot continue. so i do same thing just /f it, hit Y and reboot. so my system reboots and goes right into windows. no chkdsk going on and boot time is same as normally. so i was like hmm. i did chkdsk/x and /r still nothing. by then i was PO'ed so i insterted my XP cd rebooted and went to windows setup used recovery console and ran the chkdsk there. while i managed to get it run it should be able to run itself normally. Whats up with it not working at all.

I am running a HP L2000 Special Edition
XP SP 2
AMD Turion ML-34 (64 bit)
1 Gig of DDR RAM (for an odd reason running in single channel gotta fix that)
X300 M
and some 93 gig harddrive at an amazing 4200 RPMS!!!! xD

Why wont chkdsk work? should i email HP.. i hate email them cause they always tell me to do stuff i already tried or know.

 

Have you tried right clicking "C" drive-properties-tools-error checking.Tick both boxes.
Prompt to chkdsk at next restart.See if that works.
