I have Win7 64Bit and wanted to Run chkdsk in Command Line.

I know I have to Run Command Prompt as ADMIN.

    But the Command is
    chkdsk /F /R c:

I know the R Switch is for Recover.
So if it finds any Data in Bad Sectors it will try to place the Data in a Good Secotr.

But F Switch is for Fix how can it Fix a Bad Sector??

/F does the same thing as the /R command does.....it tries to "repair" the damaged sector.

But it should be chkdsk C: /f /r

Well /F switch will fix the Sectore and /R will recover Data in the Sectore.

So am I right if you just use /F it will try to fix the sector but not move the Data so if it cannot fix the Sector then the Data stays there and may be lost?

And if you use /R with the /F if it can not fix the sector it will move the Data to a good sector right?

Yes Tim W is correct./F just reboots and fix's

If you are doing CMD than try this as well.sfc /scannow run as admin.

It will scan for any windows errors.
