ChoiceMail Free has been discontinued

I use Choicemail Free 3.11 to weed out spam and it suits my needs quite well.
The only irritant is that you have to renew your licence with a free key supplied by DigiPortal once a year. I went to renew my key this year and noticed the following message on their site:

How to renew your ChoiceMail Free key

ChoiceMail Free has been discountinued and the last keys will work only until 2011. After that you will have to remove it from your system. We appologize for any inconvenience

Does anyone :

- have any insight on this
- know of a workaround to extend the free version beyond 2011
- uninstalled choicemail free and know if there are any pitfalls to doing this
i.e. lost mail?

 

Does Choicemail Free 3.11 work as POP3 mail with an email client? Is that how you've been using it, or did you only access it via web browser, i.e. webmail? My point is that, if you've been using an email client to retrieve your mail as POP3 mail from Choicemail Free 3.11, then your messages are on your computer and you will not lose them once Choicemail Free 3.11 finally comes to an end.
