Hi, I'm posting because of some issues I'm having with games. My system specs are:

    Processor: AMD 64 FX-55 2.6gig
    MB: ABIT - KN8 SLI
Memory: 2 512 sticks of Corsaire memory
VidCard: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT 256MB

Problem I'm having is that when I play games (for instance Everquest 2) everything gets really choppy like something is running, but I have done tons of diagnostics on this system and NOTHING is running when it happens... at least nothing that I can see. I'm really not sure where else to look or ask, so I thought I'd try my luck here. This site has been very helpful in helping me clean up my computer, but the issue still occures... my laptop is lesser specs and runs the same games much better, so there is an issue somewhere I know it.

If anyone has any advice or need more information I can give it. I have already done this:

Defrag (many different types of defrag, just to be sure hehe)
HiJackThis (everything left in the list is suppose to be on my computer I've looked them all up)
Advanced WindosCare V2 - did all the cleaning tools it has
    CCleaner - all tidy
SpyBot - have the registry block running so no spyware installs itself
AdAware - run periodicly, no bad things show up
avast Antivirus - my virus scanner, have used this for a long time now

Thats about it... so if anyone knows or has an idea please reply!! I'm desparate!!!

    Thanks loads!
    Kris

    Greetings and welcome to MajorGeeks!

First question I have: Did you try disabling your avast! antivirus program, then play a game?

Yes I did, usually do so before I play any games (really no reason to have it running if thats all I'm doing I think :))... I just got done talking to someone about it and they recommended me trying to switch from Windows XP Pro 32... to Windows XP Pro 64, since I'm running a 64 bit processor... this make sense to anyone as a good solution?

    Thanks for the reply!

    Kris
