Hey guys, my problem is my internet streaming video youtube etc. is choppy and very slow loading. I have ran my anti virus and spyware and it detected nothing. Also, restored my computer to a point of about 3 weeks ago before I had this problem. Worked just fine about three weeks ago. I haven't downloaded anything new and have cleared out my cache, temp. internet files, etc. What else could i possibly do to fix this problem?

    PC make- Dell Inspiron 531S

Hi bjmarthin1986 and welcome to MGs.
    Several possibilities to try.
Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking (Press F8 at bootup and choose mode). Does the same thing occur? If not, that would point to a possible software or driver conflict from an update that was done recently.

Try updating the drivers for your video and networking adapter. (Go to Dell support here and use the service tag for the comp to get the latest drivers.)

If you suspect malware, go to the Malware forum here and do the sticky Read and Run Me First. The newer malware can be very difficult to find and hides itself very well in your system.

I have tried all of the things you suggested. No malware found. Not sure why it is still doing it. What else could I do to fix this?

How do you connect to the Internet, router? - restart it, it may fix your problems, I have to do this on an irregular basis.

Currently I am not using a router. I am just using a wireless network card for my apartment complex. Also, have checked for viruses and nothing. My computer works great for everything else just the streaming video dosen't work. I'll try whatever you guys on here suggest

Umm, does that mean you're sharing your wireless connection with *many* other users? If so, that's likely to be your problem; wireless is primarily a serial connection, one chunk of data travels at a time, in one direction only ... and if you have to share a wireless signal with several other users, lag, choppiness, etc. will occur + it only takes 1 user of P2P networks, torrents, to slow everything down even further :(.

satrow probably hit the nail on the head. Maybe new renter at complex just moved in.
Easiest way to check would be to take your laptop to a wifi hotspot and see if the same thing happens . Try to hit a time when usage would be down at the hotspot, early AM would work best.

yea its for college students and some have moved in recently. I guess that could be why since the signal is just being distributed that much more.
