Hey everyone I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and older laptop I decided to install for mediocore tasks. Anyway, I had windows 7 installed on it first and I realized that dell no longer made drivers for this laptop for windows 7. I figured since I did not have the proper drivers that is why I would get skippy laggy jerky videos and sound whenever I watched or played a song. So I looked at what editions of windows are available for this specific computer and it supports Vista and XP... I have a 32 bit machine btw. So I just finished doing a fresh install of windows xp. Got all the proper drivers and everything set up correctly and im still having problems with stuttering sound. I really dont know what the issue could be since ive done two fresh installs. The only thing I can think of is I did a quick format instead of a full. Only because when I tried to do a full format on this machine it would stop at 7% every time, but when I did a quick install it would blow past that 7% mark. Ive tried like everything google has suggested and nothing has worked lol. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. The only thing I can think of is that this hard drive is starting to go if it wouldnt even format fully. And that just buying a new harddrive and doing a fresh install of xp would prob do the trick. I would like to find another solution for that problem though instead of getting a new hd.

Well, after about five years I'd be inclined to say HDD is the issue. Especially if it won't finish a full format. If you don't need alot of storage space, I'd recommend finding a nice price on a SATA solid state drive.

If it supports Vista, I'm a bit surprised that there were issues with W7. What drivers specifically did you have issue with?

Yeah ive downloaded all the drivers everything is correct and in place. I tried downloading k-lite kodecs and it seemed to lessen the stuttering sound, but its still there.

Incase anyone else was having the same problem I figured out what it was. It worked for me atleast. It was something wrong with the new flash player and I had to open task manager and set the plugin container to a higher priority. Just thought id share.
