Chrome add-on to cause new tab to open in an adjacent tab?

Discussion in 'Software' started by conceptualclarity, Jan 21, 2014.

  1. I don't like having new tabs open on the far right side of the browser. I want it to open next to the tab I have open.

I found a Mozilla add-on that accomplished this.

Did you run into a problem or have a question about the add-on?
Did you want to share info about the add-on (like a name or a link)?

He/she wants an addon for chrome like the one in Firefox as per subject
    .
Since I don't run chrome, I have no idea what is available.

  4. Correct, plodr. They only allow so many characters in the question here.

Which add-on for Firefox was it cc? There are several of them that deal with tabs. I use "Tab Mix Plus", but something like that would be overkill for what you want. I've read several complaints about Chrome's tab management, or lack thereof, compared to other browsers.

Some times the author of an add-on/extension will write an equivalent or similar add-on/extension for multiple browsers. Try visiting the support page for the add-on/extension or the author's home page.

I've SRWare Iron installed instead of Chrome and I haven't had much luck in the add-on/extension department.

If you can't find a Chrome version of the Firefox add-on/extension, you may have to search for a Chrome "user script" that does what you want.

You don't need an addon to get FF to open tabs aside of the current one.
    about:config
    browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent true
if you want the tab at the far right, you change the value from true to false.

so I'm not sure what the problem with Chrome is because it does what you want.

    Maybe this extension?

  7. Thank you very much, plastidust and plodr.

It's Comodo Dragon, not Google Chrome, that I've been using. Comodo Dragon uses the Google extension store. In my experience I find Comodo Dragon superior to the other Chromium family browsers, including Chrome.
