    ...what?

Chrome OS is most likely to be for internet appliances. Its a bit underwhelming for anything else, including netbooks.

They're aiming at college students and business clients. Not home users. The ability to share certain information "in the cloud" for those users in theory is a brilliant idea IMO.

I think Google Wave is another step toward their ultimate goal of collaborated (Cloud) computing. I also think that the reason Google Chrome is so unfinished as of now is because they are going to release a more polished version that is intertwined with the Chrome OS. No need letting us have features yet that are impossible to use.

I agree and disagree in part as while they may aim and college and business users a huge area they need is home use, which is why they are in part touting it for netbooks etc, I know business users have them but so do alot of my friends and they are not used exclusively for business use, but liek I use mine for easy of portability.

Yes agree on Wave and Chrome, however if Googles past exploits with Beta's are anything to go by they will be in beta for 5yrs+ (Gmail was in beta since March 2004 and only came out of beta this year)

Plus and I mentioned this in the thread I started on Wave, in that the infastructure for internet is not great in many countries, you'd be ok in Japan or Taiwan, but would hold no hope in the UK to a viable network for many years as the latest crock from the Government is to have everyone with min 2mb DL connections, thats not going to work with Clould computing at all.

Cloud is the next big thing, but IMHO has many years off before its viable and as Adryn mentions secure and robust.

This would definitely be a case of don't believe everything you read there.

This is not going to be a threat to Linux, much less Microsoft.

you will get more use out of YouTube than ChromeOS or the vaporware cloud.

put your money on BeOS... ;)

MS has the home user securely in their pocket. I don't see any OS threatening that for a long time, if ever.

If anyone is going to take cloud computing to the next level I'd put my money on Google being the one to do it.

Dont know on that, if the negativity shown by many due to it being the "smart" thing to say in "I hate Bill Gates and/or Microsoft" was out of the equation then Microsoft do have the jump in some respects to Google on Cloud computing as Azure has been around longer than anything Google has and its released and been working for a while, albieit for corporate use over home use, but I'd wager their will be a Cloud based version of Windows for Home use is lurking somewhere.

Office online is vastly better than Google docs imo (I do use both as well as an offering from Adobe in https://acrobat.com/#o that used to be called Buzzword, sample from my account below)

Google do have the edge on being seen for now as the good guy in technology in relation to perception.
