One beginning with the letter C ;)

seriously... Cigarettes would be the one to give up, if I smoked, while I'd agree the other two are especially coffee is also a drug and addictive its not quite as destructive as nicotine... as for the computer again additive but only really becomes as serious problem when you take them or the internet community too serious.

As I don't smoke I wouldn't have to give cigarettes up :)... But I am pretty hooked on the other two... So I may have to start smoking and give that up ;)

WHY? why does one have to go? they all go so well together.

(but I know the politically correct answer would be cigarettes)

Hey splitt3r, same here. Now if giving up eating was on the list , I guess I would have to part with the computer.

Which one was destroying your life the most? Which one would be the hardest for you to quit? Do that one first and the rest will be a doddle afterwards :D

Good slogan in England.... "If you think giving up smoking is hard, trying telling your kids you have lung cancer"

Personally, I think getting rid of all the computers in the house would the hardest.

if i got rid of all the pc's quiting coffee and smoking would be easier than dealing with the wife (she's addicted to pc) :)

Great one, Lev. Fortunately I don't smoke and hate coffee flavoured anything. I've been using PC's since the days of the Tandy Model 1, and am thoroughly addicted to PC's and MG. Bazza

Lev, that would be a great silent advert for quitting smoking. Can you provide a link?
I'd like to submit it to our OZ "QUIT" campaign. Bazza

Hrmmm, I hike, bike, run, drink/brew beer, mountain climb, spelunking....and still smoke.

I use to be in the navy. During our Physicals, we had to do push-ups, sit-ups, then run. After the run, I always smoked a ciggie. NO, I didn't finish in last place. Typically, I was near the front of the pack.

Though, if I had a g/f who nagged me to death on my smoking, perhaps I'd quit then. :)

My Mother has emphysema...and had a massive, debillitating stroke as a result of years of smoking. I`m trying to quit, and have in fact cut my consumption by more than hald. New Year`s resolution, and I mean it.

Good for you Sasquatch :) My husband is in the process of cutting back and has done extremely well so far. His goal is to quit by his birthday, which is the end of January. Having been there myself I guess it helps understand what he is going through to support him.

Hang in there Laurie...you just be reaching the 2 month milestone by now? You are doing so great hunnie. I know it is a hard time with your son being out the country and all the associated stress that goes along with that, but let him be your strength too. You are doing this for him as much as for you :)

I hope you asked him to bring some Bisto back ;)

bisto, oxo, hienz salad cream, cadbury flakes, bornville, rizlas (very important!) and if they can manage it..bacon, butter and cream! (we can only get streaky here, and something called 'canadian bacon' , and i think real cream must have been banned by the states coz here we get 'wipping' or 'heavy' and both taste like the stuff in the spray can!) i wish he could bring an indian take out. i miss chicken kauma. there is probably more..we add to the list daily. he on the other hand is missing fish, lau lau (pork and fish wrapped in taro leaves..which taste like spinich), poi (like a purple mash potato made from taro roots), poke (raw fish apitizer) and all the friut. he likes english fish n chips, but finds it difficult to understand that there is only one 'flavor'. :( i miss him.

I quit October of this year and really notice the "ashtray" smell a lot on people. However, I have gained 35 pounds because I do not walk outside to smoke anymore, I just sit at the computer and drink coffee with extra sugar and creamer. Hmmmmm, I regularly argue that quitting smoking is going to be the death of me from heart failure induced by a cup of coffee and three cows worth of creamer and half a country full of cane sugar. Mind you I dont say it that often, my breathing is not that good yet.;)

I am a quitter as of November 1. After smoking 2 packs a day for almost 20 years, I realize now what a breath of 'fresh' air really is. For those of you attempting to quit or are considering quitting, don't let anyone tell you that the NicodermCQ nicotine patches won't help. For the past few years, I have been trying to quit. I have used the patch during many of these attempts. The one thing I can tell you that they did was to take away the physical nervous feeling of not smoking...you know...the feeling you get after being awake more than 6 hours with no cigarette. The biggest hurdle for me was putting a sense of urgency with quitting. Once I added the urgency to the desire and the use of the patches, quitting became almost effortless. The sense of urgency comes from the fact that in February, my wife and I have a baby boy due to be born.
Good luck to anybody wishing to stop smoking. For those of you smokers not interested in quitting, more power to you. Don't let anybody give you any sh!t. If I smoked one right now, I know I would enjoy it.

    [tip of the hat]
