OK... am I the only one who enjoys a great cigar?

I hope not, but I figured I would drop a thread about cigars here. I gave up the cigarettes almost 2 months ago, and have gone back to my first love, cigars. The thing is, you don't inhale on cigars, so I can feel guilty without killing my lungs. The other thing is, I am not talking Phillies or Dutch Masters here, I am talking Timbuctoo, Paso Doble, Sapporo and the good brands. Once in a great while, I will get a great brand, but I like my good brands on a daily basis. They are easy on the wallet, but heavy on smooth enjoyment.

I don't pretend to be an aficionado, but I know what I like. Anyone else into this?

If it has tobacco I smoke it. Partial to Punch cigars myself though.

And a custom blend for my pipe, which I need to break out and clean. :(

Now I have to go find my pipe.... lol... Punch is good too. I use www.thompsoncigar.com for my smoking needs. They have some great samplers at great prices. I love getting a sampler with a bunch of different brands in it, because even if I find one I don't like, I can always gift them out to someone. LOL

I just got a bundle of their house brand, and let me tell you, darn smooth smoke and great flavor to them. Of course, the other half has stated that I am only allowed to smoke in my office, but during the day when I am home and someone is at work....LOL, the kitchen is my smoking area.

I quit smoking 18 months ago but when I used to smoke I always enjoyed White Owl cigars which I believe came from Canada. Am I right BC?

White Owl would have to be my No.1 choice, although i have never had a Havanna.

Canadian hey!......where's that passport of mine?

Any scotch on your shelf to go with those cigars BC? Won't be long...

    Regards..

I concur with Punch, Romeo y Julieta are nice Havana brands. Sumatran and Jamaican also pretty good. King Edward the Seventh make a nice, milder stogie as well.

I have a rack with about 15 different pipes sitting in the lounge room. I 'prolly have about 35 or so in all. Some are actually valuable antiques. Some are oddities, made of elk horn and special stone, some clay. But the ones I actually use are more the normal rose wood or Briar. There is a tobacco by Borkum Riff - Cherry Cavendish variety which smells and tastes very rich and sweet. Even a lot of non-smokers like that smell.

Cigarettes, I have to admit, do nothing for me.

I used to smoke a cigar about once a year, now it is more like once every 5 years. I like em, but not enough to addict myself.

Cigarettes only feed the need for me. Most places around here wont allow you to smoke anything but cigarettes. A bunch of idiots with no taste killing everything for those of us that are smarter than that.

I have to pay the price of a ton of morons that seem to think anything you get from a 'Stop and Rob' is quality tobacco.:mad

Y'know BC, one of these days when I get the car back on the road and get my passport, I'm gonna be takin a road trip up that way for some good havannas. I used to have a good feed for them, but unfortunately, I no longer work with that particular group now :( There really is nothing like a true cubano cigar.

I usually order Dmoinican and somatran blends here, sometimes with a connecticut wrapper. (They do actually grow some good scrub in the states you know. If you get a chance, find a Chuck Norris cigar, he actually owns (or owned maybe) his own cigar company, them were some mighty good smokes, haven't seen them in forever tho.

acid... is hard to explain. they are very close lipped about what goes into them. i believe to date they have allowed only one reviewer access to their plant but his tour was VERY limited. the are more in line with lars, which is to say they use botanical oils have have more of "flowery taste". sweeter.... not your typical musty cigar smell or taste. i have found that a lot more people, including the wife, can stand their smell as opposed to more " classic" cigars.

I quit smoking cigarettes over four years ago . . . but once in a while - usually on weekend deer hunting/camping excursions into the Hoosier National Forest - I used to partake of cigars. My favorite was an odd brand called "backwoods" which is supposed to be 100% tobacco with no fillers - dunno if that is true or not; nor have I had one since 2004 - But I do/did enjoy the flavor.

In fact, back in November I went on a cruise to the Bahamas (dragged kicking and screaming from my computer) and while there purchased and smoked an actual Cuban cigar - not the most expensive type, mind you, but it was pricey for me - and it actually reminded me of the backwoods smokes.

Damn, now I want a cigar! I wonder if they still make "Backwoods?"

Thanks lanfear, I will have to get some to try.

Nata, if u really want to find one, try your local stogie shop or do an online search. If you would rather leave the past behind you, never mind :)
