city of heroes is not working with my comp

okay, i have an Emaching computer microsoft XP, the driver version 6.14.10.4020 and have tried just about everything to get this city of heroes updater working, ive even taken it up with coh support, and nothing has helped.


What happens is i have installed my game, blah blah, blah. and i run this updater thing that it has to basicly download the game for playing, now i havent even seen the server screen, im not playing. And alll of aa sudden the updater stopps about 3 inches from the end of the load bar and the time remaining says some wacky number. i know that an emachine is not the best of gaming comps but, there has got to be sumthing, ive even made sure my direct x is running properly and it is. maby you guys can help...

try uninstalling it with ccleaner then deleting the registry keys(if you know how)... then reinstalling

 

okay i uninstalled it with ccleaner and again it didn't work...but, I don't think i mentioned this but after the first time i ran it the updater atomaticly went to the stop point. juss letin you know...

 

what video card do you have?

you might check the minimum specs for the game ... it might not be able to run with integrated graphics

First off, it's not your video card since you can't even get into the game. Secondly, you have the minimum specs to be able to run it. Thirdly, it's not possible to play the game without running the updater.

My only suggestion would be to try uninstalling and re-installing the game. Beyond that, the COH tech support are probably your best bet. They know more about the game than we do.

b okay just yesturday i got a world of warcraft cd, another mmorpg, and it works fine updating, and downloading, but i cant get the actual game to work. like im supposed to be able to talk to this guy bye right clicking, but nothing happens, and its not my mouse, also recently ive had these red ? in my inventory, and now i just show up as a shadow. i kant seem to figure the problem out. could uit bee my firewall, but windows says its disabled, it that windows firewall, i dont know if its possible to uninstall, could it be my computer, i mean how destructive could an e-machine computer be? i have pasted my direct x info in the next post, i know i cant figure this out.

I highly doubt a graphical issue would be your firewall ... as the firewall has nothing to do with that ... if you were say having trouble connecting to the WoW server then your firewall might be the problem ... I would suggest to get and install a video card as that would most likely resolve any compatibility issues you might be having ... also playing games online requires more system resources thus more stress on your CPU ... and the minimum specs for most games are less than the specs are for playing them online ... for instance in Far Cry the min CPU is 1GHz while for playing online it's 2GHz ... I can't garantee that buying a video card will fix all the issues you're having it will certainly reduce them

also .. alot of these game specific questions are better directed towards the games forum ... as it would just be luck if someone here would have alot of knowledge about a specific game ... as I have never played either CoH or WoW .. so the problems you are having may have known fixes, but you would only be able to find out about them at their own forums
