Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword crashes

    I can set up a game, but then as soon as I click play it goes black and crashes to desktop. I am running it through steam on Windows 7 64 bit. The main game works fine. I believe all my drivers are up to date. Any ideas?

    Do you have Steam Cloud or in-game community overlay enabled? If you do, turn them off and see if that helps. They've been known to crash games that came out before they were created.

    Does it crash in offline mode as well as online?
