Hi, i got Avast! Pro and NOD32 together, i didn't know they would clash, now whenever i turn on my computer, i works fine for about 1 minute then freezes. When frozen, I can still move the mouse around but i can't click anything or do anything. I tried uninstalling both of them but i don't have enough time when i turn the computer on. I get just about uninstalling it then it freezes. HELP! PLZ!:cry

:-D even experienced computer technicians fall victim to this when they forget to check for pre-existing antivirus software when installing a new one. This is what you do:

    1) Start up your computer. Press F8 until boot options appear and select "start in safe mode".
    2) If you try to un-install one of the antiviruses now, you will probably get an error saying that Windows Installer is not running. Go ahead and give it a try in case I am wrong. If you succeed, you can stop this process now, you have fixed the problem.
    3) I am assuming it did not work. Open a run prompt by holding the windows key and pressing 'r'. Once the run prompt is open, type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and press enter.
    4) Select the "services" tab. Click on the "hide microsoft services" and, once they are hidden, click "disable all".
    5) Select the "startup" tab. Click "disable all".
    6) Click apply. It will now ask you to restart your computer. Do so. You can now start Vista normally without fear.
    7) Now that NOD32 and Avast are disabled, you can uninstall one of them. i would recommend keeping NOD32, as it is a very good antivirus. Don't forget to run msconfig again and select "normal startup" on the first screen when you are finished..

Hi, thx for the quick reply. However i tried that, and couldn't keep my pc on for long enough to do it all. I ended up formatting my computer. Although now i have another problem. After formatting, when i scroll (or move a window around) my screen jumps. I have researched it and i think i just need to update the driver. Plz give step by step instructions on how. Also if this helps my motherboard is a P5GC-MX this is what i have been told to update. PLZ HELP.:cry

Hmm, your computer should not have frozen if booted into safe mode because it doesn't load your antiviruses. That's besides the point now.

The question now is did you install your drivers after formatting/reloading windows. You can find out by right clicking on "My Computer", clicking properties, if you are running XP click on the Hardware Tab, click on device manager. If you have any drivers with a '?' or '!' you have problems and should post the missing drivers here.

Also, I will need your operating system and the model number of your computer.
