If it is Win 7 and below, I use Revo Uninstaller http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html
Revo shows two entries for my HP printer.
When I click on All Programs, then HP, I have two entries and an uninstall option for each of those. Revo will use the program's uninstall routine first then will follow up by picking the bits and pieces that the program's uninstaller leaves in the registry.

As far as Revo, when you are presented with the registry items, do not blindly delete everything. Only the registry entries in bold should be removed.

You do not need to pay for Revo Pro to use the Free version. When the ad comes up, just click No Thanks.
Revo removes programs, same as Add Remove Programs.
You remove the printer through the Control Panel, Printer and Faxes folder.

You failed to mention what version of Windows you are running.

Hi Thanks for getting back, system is win 7 64bit.....I dont mean to sound thick (although perhaps I am!!!) but with the copy of Revo that I have downloaded it gives me no options to remove hardware or drivers??

YOu state you revo shows 2 entries for your HP printer, all mine does is make reference to the soft ware that accompanies my canon, like easy print, registrartion and the like.....ideally what I was looking for was a progamme that could remove the printer hardware as well as all drivers so that nothing remained in the PC or regsitry relating to the printer?

You remove the printer and it's associated driver through the Control Panel after you remove whatever printer software you see Revo listing.

You will not find a program that removes hardware - that is done through Windows.
You will find programs to cleanly uninstall software; windows Add/Remove programs is very careless about removing registry entries, hence the use of 3rd part programs for program removal.

That's why we're here volunteering - to answer questions.
Let us know how the removal went.

If you are at all unsure, do what I always do in that situation, create a restore point BEFORE you start the process.
