What is the best cloth to clean an LCD monitor? How about a camera lens cloth. Is a micro-fiber cloth better?

I hear a soft Microfibre cloth is good for cleaning screens, with a bit of water. Not tried it myself.

I recently purchased a LG 1950B LCD Monitor, LG recommends a "damp" clean cloth, I have found however that a "damp" cloth leaves streaks on the "anti-glare" screen - I tried a "wet" but well wrung out cloth and let the screen air dry, only takes a couple of seconds, and the screen is spotless -
That is "damp" or "wet" from WATER only, NO Chemicals !!!!

I am interested in the type of cloth to use, not the cleaner. What is a microfiber cloth (Memorex makes one) and a Nikon lens cleaning cloth?

Lens cloths like those for photographic lenses are best, I tend to use the same ones that are used for specticles for obvious reasons, "no scratch glasses.. no scratch LCD" have used these for 6yrs in having LCDs with no issues.

Lionrampant: I addressed the cloth: cotton (what is often called long strand unbleached, if you want to be specific), or best of all wool felt, which is what lens cleaning towels are normally manufactured from. Excellent, Halo...

And the type of cleaner is more important than the type of cloth, quite frankly.

If you still at the warranty period, then do not use anything except the method told by the Manufacturer

I have to agree with you, the cleaner is equally important, which is why I use the same liquid that I clean my glasses with, just spay it on the cloth and not the screen and wipe in vertical or horizontal strokes, not around and around.

Zeiss the lens maker have some great cloths, which are the type we use in work to clean medical imaging equip and our LCDs but if you goto your local opticians they will be able to give or sell you a lens cloth.
