    Hi,
Thanks for your site....it really helps people like me(no money) try to keep connected. I have an older computer that is used by our family of 5 and have noticed the progression of slowness and thought it was time for a deep clean. I know some additional RAM would help but back to the people like me(no money) thing.

Possible problems: About Blank flashes on address line in IE. Some USB error when shutting down windows. We are connected to the fastest cable service for the area and the computer was working much faster years ago.

Attached are the log files for your review.....let me know if you see anything.

    Thanks again,

    Bob

    Hello, BobHelms1966

The below fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for issue(s) on this machine. Also, please do not install any other software while we are still working with you unless instructed. Once we have given you the all clean and final instructions you will be free to install what you want.

I strongly recommend that you clean up your Desktop immediately leaving only links. Do not store downloads, exe files, iso files....etc on your Desktop. First it is not a safe place to keep them (i.e., you may loose them due to malware, and a cluttered Desktop is an easy hiding place for malware), and last but not least it can have an effect on your PCs performance.

    * A couple causes for your pc's slowness are the rather slow processor( by today's standards and the applications required to run them on XP SP3 )... and lack of RAM installed/available.

Do you know what this is? * Notice the weird date -
    Code:
    [color=red]30044-07-10[/color] 05:13 . 30044-07-10 05:13 3,120 --a------ c:\windows\amam0030.LF
    Step 1:
Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Step 3:
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Step 4:
    Run Ccleaner

    Step 5:
Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

Then attach the below logs to your next reply:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Make sure you tell me if you had any problems running this procedure and give a description of how things are working now!

    Dr.M,

I cleaned up my Desktop, ran and disabled Windows Messenger and steps 3-5 seemed to run just fine. The logs are attached.

I do no know what this is.....

    Code:
    30044-07-10 05:13 . 30044-07-10 05:13 3,120 --a------ c:\windows\amam0030.LF

Let me know if this worked or if there are any more issues to be resolved.

    Thanks,

    Bob
