Cleanup the startup programs

Hi everyone...this looks like an awesome site. Great feature that once you type in the title, it shows other related threads. Very nice. I did see 5 for the topic I have but they are from 2006 so I thought I would post this new. Maybe there are new programs and being I am running Vista. So my HP has all this preloaded "stuff" and I have gone through add/remove programs to uninstall those. But, I would think there are more, probably MANY more processes running at startup that I don't need. Can anyone suggest some free or shareware to use for this?

Autoruns is for the more knowledgeable PC folks and it shows EVERYTHING that gets loaded/launched at startup. Some things are required and you'll have problems if they're removed, so be careful and set a restore point before you start dinking with things if you're unsure. If you're interested in disabling some OS services, be sure to check this helpful link first: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm It is primarily aimed at Windows XP, but some of it will translate over to Vista, or it will provide you with a 'jumping off' point for you in looking for an equivilant site for Vista.
