I got my new laptop in today. My old one is a piece of work, however I want to do a cleanwipe and fresh install so my mom can use it to suf the internet (thats about all she does anyways). My main problem is the cd drive won't open at all. Is there anyway to completely rid it of everything and do a fresh install of xp without the cd drive working? and if so how?

    Thanks in advance!

If you have a PC to temporarily put the laptop drive into...You could try a polite personal message to him to see if he will give you instructions by P.M. or here in this topic.

Have you checked the front of your CDROM for a pinhole for emergency eject? Or do you know it is just shot? I've never tried the HD install but dlb is a frequent poster and will probably help you out.

the pinhole wont work. I will have to use my new laptop to get the files on to the jump drive i guess.
