Clear Spot RNDIS Driver?

I replaced the hard disk on a Dell Dimension 620 notebook and used an official Dell XP Pro CD to restore the OS. Now the PC cannot find or install the driver(s) for a Clear Spot 4G WiFi Hotspot device (it worked fine prior to replacing the dark disk and reformatting).

Clear's website does not have the driver available. Windows cannot find the driver when it automatically searches the Internet. Googling the driver only sends me to sites that want to sell me a driver detective package or attempt to install malware on my system.

When I hook the device to a Windows 7 PC, it automatically finds and installs the device driver as "Infomark USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget". Googling this gives me the same results as above.

Does anyone know of a legitimate site to find and download this driver for free? Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly?) that the wifi hotspot is original to the laptop. Did you try entering the Dell Service Tag at the Dell Support site?

The Clear Spot wifi unit is a USB add-on device.

I finally solved the problem in a Rube Goldberg sort of way: Hoping it used the same driver for both XP and 7, I used Double Driver to back up the driver from the Win 7 machine and "restored" it to the Dell XP unit. Luckily, it was the same driver for both and it fixed the problem. ;)

I have the same problem. My computer crashed and I had from another computer installed in the crashed computer. As a result I'm unable to use my Clear Wireless device to access the the internet. I was told to uninstall and re-install the Network Adapter and that it would appear. That didn't work. Would you be kind enough to explain to me, a lay person and non-geek, how to do what you did to restore the RNDIS on your computer. Thank you

Here's a link to the pdf user's manual. Go to pp.26. Says no driver download needed. Connect to comp with usb cable make sure autoplay is enabled. It should setup. If not doubleclick on the device in 'my computer'. The driver may be in the device itself.

    newyork777,

As Imandy Mann pointed out, the CLEAR Spots don't require a any type of CLEAR driver to be installed. I'm thinking you might just be missing your wireless device driver that came with your computer's motherboard, which would be required in order to see the CLEAR spot emitting a wireless signal in the first place. If that's the case, you will have to tell us the model of your computer so someone can locate the wireless driver for you (one again, not a CLEAR driver). An example of a model number that would help us: Toshiba Satellite C655-S5049

Are you familar with the device manager and how to get there to check for missing drivers? If not, this should help.

Either way though, I think your first step is to make sure you have a wireless driver already installed in order to see wireless signals (your clear spot, neighbor's wireless, etc) around you.
