There is much debate at my work about clearing memory. Some say to completely clear the memory, a shutdown/reboot is neccessary. Others say that a Start/Shutdown/Restart, will do work just fine. Can anybody tell me if these two methods produce the same results? Thank you for your time.

    Hi

If I remember correctly you will need a hard shutdown and re-start over a soft shutdown, which is a restart, as a soft re-start can/could leave items in ram as the PC has not powered down thus not clearing all the ram module areas(could be very mistaken on this but its what I can vaguely remember from many years back), as ram is volatile when it looses power it clears, just dont think it fully does this on a restart.

Guess I maybe looking this one up again.
