Clearing old HD

    Can I take a old harddrive from a old computer and clear everything off of it .( I have a few small HD's laying around) . Just thought I would try. thanks Chuck

    you want to delete everything on the HDD? just use Fdisk or ther partition tool to format the drive

    Unless your concerned about data you want to know can not be retreived. If thats the case, let us know, otherwise, as pyrate said, you can fdisk from Windows directory.

    If you want the drive for other use, then do as suggested.

    If you want to be sure the data can never be recovered, and don't mind destroying it, use a sledge hammer. Forget drilling holes, beating it with a sledge hammer is the single most effective way I know to destroy data.

    myself i use a old 15th warhammer

    Thanks, All I want to do is remove everything from the HD. Then when I need to I can install it and format& OS. Can I install it as a slave and Fdisk from there. Fdisk is in windows ? Thanks again I'm trying something new to me. Thanks alot for all your help Chuck :)

    Hmm, no, that probably will not work, though format will. Since formatting will accomplish all you need here, that should work. Odds are you can right click the drive in Windows Explorer and select format. Just dont choose the wrong drive, obviously :)
