Has anybody used or heard of anyone's experience with this provider? The deal looks great compared to other providers in our area and I'm considering getting off freakin' dial up at long last. Any input appreciated :) Thanks.

I didn't get much a response to this posting lol .......in fact I didn't get any!

So, as this seems to be MGs BUMP week, I thought I'd bump this one too :D

I'm down to 2 possible choices....Clearwire or Earthlink for DSL connection, and would be really keen to hear people's experiences with either provider. Thanks.

    Thanks Star :D

Seems there are disgruntled customers in both corners. I think I'm going to go with the third option you offered up. It's much cheaper too :p

Seriously though, useful links, thanks Chris :)

Yayup...people get real grumpy when their gruntles are removed :)

You're welcome, now go install AOL like the voice in your head is telling you. ;)

Haha! No way! Never have and never will. Now trying to find out whose cell towers Clearwire uses, as they "rent". Seems if you are within 5 miles of a tower they use you will have a much greater success rate.

Is a cell tower (for wireless DSL) different from a cell phone tower?

Did you see how many views to our thread, at last count 66, I was one of them…looked them up, but could tell nothing good or bad about them…so didn’t have any ideas for ya….I have a dsl line, and it’s from my own telephone line…….and a wireless router……I have a friend that works for verizon, and he has a verizon wireless hookup……..and for one week out of the month, if it breaks, then he’s the guy they call out to fix it……….wobbles

Looks good Splitt3r...until you see the monthly charge after 6 months promo is over $50. I can get Earthlink or Clearwire for under $40 at 1.5 speed :)

    I hate that bandwidth test.

It atuomatically chops off 3Mbps of my connection.

Over 50 for that speed? No thanks.

I'm pulling about 9.8Mbps from a Cox bandwidth tester, and over 9 froma tester a state away. I'm paying about 55/mo.

    Good call A.

Qwest are our phone service provider. Looking at the link you gave, the deal has improved for a faster speed since I looked a few weeks back, so I'll give them some serious consideration now. Thanks :)

    You are welcome.

You don't have to install the MSN software, by the way :)

Keep in mind thats a yearly promotion, but still, one heck of a good savings.

They don't advertise this online, but their top tier speed isn't 3-5Mbps.

    Its 3-7Mbps.

Its all about how close you are to the CO. The price is the same whether you get 3, or 7.

    That's a relief ;)

Being that we already have Qwest Home Service, we'd save a further $5/month on any DSL service too :D

    Quite true!

There is something to be said about one company handling it all, too.

Qwest can't blame the phone company if they have problems :D

quest is in my area, but I prefer comcast, it is faster, and we get a bundle deal since we have digital cable, I have never tried the new faster DSl service but it looks like a good deal, I have never used anything besides comcast and dial up at home, it is up to my parents who our ISP is, I am glad tehy ditched AOL when we got cable internet though, I bever realized how much better the internet is without that POS, but heck, i was 10 then, lol glad my parents are smart enough to ditch AOL, they got rid of it when a KO chat moderator TOSed me for having the name buckkillerjunior
