Clevo X8100 Switches Off Unexpectedly.

Hope you can throw some light on this.

I have a 6 year old CLEVO X8100 laptop. It's a great bit of kit and does all that I require. BUT it keeps switching off unexpectedly. When it does it makes a sound like a relay switching. The sound is also like an electrical short but I have discounted that because it’s been doing it for some months and it has not deteriorated further. There would be a smell if it was a short.

The sound appears to come from the top right hand corner where the main switch is located.

I thought it might be a fault with one of the fans so I cleaned the fans and eventually replaced one of them but it’s still switching off.

It appears to be worst a boot up when I have to start the computer anything up to 7 or 8 times before I get into the home screen. I thin its worst when it’s a bit cold.

Sometimes it will go all day without failing and other times it drops out nine or more times.

In all other respects this machine is working fine and I don’t want to replace it if I can fix the fault.

Any suggestions would be welcome.
