    Hi

Try using the no-addons version of IE to test Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > IE with no Addons

Also what firewall do you have installed?

    Hi

Should have added why I want you to try that, its quite possible that a 3rd party add-on maybe causing this issue, so if links open ok in non add-ons mode then we know its likely to be an add-on so then you need to open IE in its normal mode (the main link you normally use) then click Tools > manage Add-ons and disable any non microsoft ones and then see if IE opens links ok, if it does enable one at a time.

Where are these links in webpages, email?

Does your normal surfing work ok?

Use Ccleaner to delete temps and cookies.

Check that your tab settings are like this

The problem is surfing with both IE8 & emails, (i.e.) I have just been googling for a Pantone Huey, about 25% of the the listed UK suppliers when "clicked on" came up as a complete blank page, which included "www.pantone.co.uk" who are the most common supplier for the product.

I had an email from Paypal today which had a link which when "clicked on" apparently opened to a form for completion but all I got was a blank page

Do you have a 2nd browser to try?
I'd like to determine if it is IE 8 with the problem or possibly a DNS problem from your ISP.

I seem to vaguely recall something too about ipv4 and ipv6 causing problems but I can't pull anything worthwhile from my memory bank.

I managed to track down my note. It was from an old Fred Langa newsletter.
If some pages load and others are blank, this might fix it.
Open a command prompt and type ipv6 uninstall
enter and then reboot the computer.

If that hasn't changed anything, then you can "undo" the fix by opening a command prompt and typing ipv6 install
Of course reboot after you make the change.

If that happens to me, I have to allow javascript.
Look at IE 8 and your settings. You might need to set from disabled to prompt. That way if you get to a page that needs something to view it that is currently disabled, it will prompt you for allowing scripts and activex. I have IE set to prompt. If it is a page I trust, I allow. If I'm not sure about the page, I say no.

"Java and Javascript are enabled in both Firefox and IE"
both updated & enabled when problem started.

    "Error_load...aving_problems"
Have taken your advise, looks as though its going to be a long process of elimination
