A friend of mine recently formatted her hard drive and did a fresh install of Windows XP Home on an E-Machine ( ) For whatever reason, now that she is using her fresh install, she reports a "clicking" every 15-20 seconds (the same click that one gets when using browser buttons), even when nothing is running and no programs are open.

My guess is that this clicking is coming every time that her screen refreshes. So how can she turn this click off? I'm sure it's very annoying. I'm sure it's just a matter of unticking a box somewhere in settings or something, I'm just having difficulty locating the source of the clicking and how I can turn it off.

Is the ''click'' coming from the computer hardware or on the speakers ????

    From the speakers.
