Clone Optical Disk ?

I'd like to make back-up and working copies (to use in place of originals, and keep the originals pristine) of certain optical disks I have, both commercial and home made. The home made present no problems as I can simply copy the individual files in the worst case.

I would really like bit-for-bit copies (i.e. clones) for both CDs and DVDs, one for just CDs would help a lot. Can anybody suggest programs for doing this, preferably freeware ? I cannot find CloneCD which seemed to do this.

In my reading on this matter, I have across the "need" to break the encryption on certain commercial DVDs/CDs to copy them. I want to clone them, keeping the encryption, and therefore do not understand the necessity for decryption ?

Here's a link for Clone CD. It's a 21 day trial though. There's no freeware versions. I checked MG's for similar software but anything close to Clone CD isn't freeware either.
