Clone Problem

I just bought a 1T HD to install on my Dell E6510 i7 8 G laptop, I wanted to clone from the original drive, I used both Aconis and Aoemi, using a dvd power supply and dvd attachment, the new disk is recognized by the computer, but not in the clone programs? Any help appreciated.

 

How is the new drive attached, internal bay or USB caddy? If USB, try a different port.

 

Why are you using a DVD power supply and DVD attachment instead of a USB enclosure for a hard drive? The cloning software can't clone to a DVD (optical) drive which apparently, is what the computer is "seeing" and not a hard drive.

 

I'm assuming he's running Acronis/Aomei from the DVD and attaching the new drive in an enclosure. If that isn't the case hopefully he will explain exactly how he is trying to do it.

 

I sure would like to know myself. The "DVD power supply and attachment" part confused me.

 

First thought was ultrabay adapter, but those are for ThinkPads, technically...

Are you running Acronis or AOMEI from a CD or from your internal hard drive?

If from CD,is your CD/DVD drive internal or USB connected?

Which drive are you selecting when selecting the destination disk (in AOMEI)?

Which drive are you selecting for the source disk (in AOMEI)?

I don't use Acronis so, I can't help you with that. Earthling uses Acronis.
