    I had movies on VHS tapes which I copied to DVD using a recorder that has both types. Now I want to make copies of the DVD to give out. Would any one know what I can use to do this. The DVD does not run on my PC.

    I know someone gave a one step program for this but you could use imgburn and the option to "Create Image File from Disc" which would write an ISO file of the DVD to your HD. Then use the "Write Image File to Disc" option to write that ISO file back to a blank DVD.

    Once you know the copy works in the DVD player you can delete the ISO file from your HD.

    Have you tried the DVD on a different dvd player, and if so does it work?
    If it does it should work on your computer, if not go to the drive source and check the file format on the DVD. The file should be a VOB type file, if so any dvd clonning program will do the trick. I use DVD Fab but it does cost after you use it a few times.

    There are other programs that can copy the DVD for free.

    When I view what is on the DVD in my DVD drive of my PC all I see is a file
    "desktop.ini". I tried CDBurnerXP but it's looking for a bin or nrg type file.

    There must be more that the PC is not showing..

    The desktop.ini file has the following inside of it :

    [.ShellClassInfo]
    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21815

    First make sure that the disk was finallized, if so when you view the info on the disk go to the top of the page and open tools. Then go to folder options and check on show hidden files.
    Once you do that then it should give you all the file types on the disk.
    If this is the case I believe that your dvd recorder did not do the finallize step.
