hi. im useless with my pc, so can someone help/advise?

i downloaded an .avi file from a p2p programme. it is now in my D drive, shown as being 740 MB.

when i try to open it, real player opens, but nothing else happens. it says the file is 0.00 minutes long.

so i tried to delete it. but whenever i do, it says sth like "unable to delete, being used by another programme/person".then my PC goes reeeeeaaaalllly slow.

i tried to delete in safe mode with the same result.

i have updated AVG and scanned, but found no virus.

does anyone know whats happening here? is it a virus? how can i delete it?

    lesson learnt: p2ps are shit!!!

thanks in advance for any tips.

    dave

  3. Hi mission101,
I sometimes have the same problem when I try deleting an mp3 file that I just listened to.
I think if you try deleting your avi. file after trying to play it with real player, it won't let you because your file is being accessed. Try to play another file (mp3 or video) with real player, then delete your origional 740mb avi. file. Real player while be reading another file, witch in turn grant you access to the other one your trying to get rid of. Just a guess but still worth a shot.

Try doing this after a reboot if your comp. is going slow, otherwise it might freez up again. Let us know how it worked out.
