Cmd Prompt not working

I use a program called Erunt for registry backup. Have created a .bat file to run Erunt at each daily startup to automatically backup the registry. At startup the cmd window appears with the .bat file in it and stays on the desktop until the registry is backed up at which time the cmd window goes off. Works great on my PC without a flaw.

However, I'm trying to use the exact same .bat file on my daughter's PC and it doesn't work. At startup on her PC the cmd window only appears for a split second and goes off. Needless to say the registry isn't backed up.

Anybody have any ideas as to why the cmd window only appears for a split second?

Are you running the bat file in the same automated way on your daughters computer or are you running it manualy?

Are the operating systems the same?

If you go to start>Run>cmd and press enter, does the command prompt window stay open? If so, go to the command prompt manualy and type in the name of the bat file and press enter to see if the bat file has something in it that is specific to the other machine. If it still doesnt run correctly, then it may be looking in the wrong directory or for an incorrect file name or perhaps the directory it is supposed to copy to doesnt exsist.

Both PCs have the same OS. Both .bat files are run automated on both machines.

I typed the .bat file manually in the cmd window on both machines and on mine it worked perfectly. On my daughter's PC I got the following error -

AUTOBACK.EXE is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file

    Here is the .bat file

    AUTOBACK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\#Date# /noprogresswindow /noconfirmdelete /days:7

Both PC's have the file located in the exact same directories, exact same path.

    Problem Solved

    On my PC this works fine - AUTOBACK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\#Date# /noprogresswindow /noconfirmdelete /days:7

On my daughter's PC it needs to be

    "C:\Program Files\ERUNT\AUTOBACK.EXE" C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\#Date# /noprogresswindow /noconfirmdelete /days:7

Why? Beats me, but it works.

If your curious the "why" would mosy likley be because "C:\Program Files\ERUNT" is in the path on your computer and not on you daughters. To verify this, go to the command prompt on both machines and type "path" and press enter and compare the output.

    Thanks for the information.

That's why I enjoy this forum, always willing to learn something new. Ran computers in the USAF during the Nam war. Computers the size of a small building, used IBM punch cards for input. Heat and humidity had to be at a certain level or the computer would crash. Heck, for that matter, if someone passed gas in the same room with the dang thing it would crash!

You can see why I'm so easily baffeled by today's technology. Who says you can't teach an old stoner new tricks!

    Again, thanks for the replies.
