My computer ormally works fine, but within the last 4 months, I've noticed a pattern: CMOS batteries only last like a month. Then I get a message in BIOS that says "CMOS battery failed", and I have to buy a new one, reset my clock, relicense my Antivirus,etc....

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

    Two thoughts er?? guess
Short on mobo, could even be dust, I would remove MOBO, clean & inspect for burn marks, check both sides of MOBO with magnafing glass.

Check in your case for loose object's, screws, anything that can cause short

Check to see that all MOBO stand offs are installed in the correct position & screwed in all the way.

I could see having to change battery once, but for new to only last few months??
I first would question did you replace it with the correct one/proper voltage & type?
You replaced the battery once? Bad luck? got a dud or one that has been on the shelf forever, Was the new in a sealed package?

Is the MOBO covered by warranty, ya might have to RMA

Thanks man. That was a pretty comprehensive answer. I will start looking into it immediately.
