cmos checksum bad after bios update

Hi,

A gateway gt5622 running vista 32 home professional had strange problems booting vista. I upgraded the bios, and it gives a cmos checksum bad after the upgrade. I flashed the cmos, but the error still appears. Oddly, the bios upgrade seems to have fixed the window boot issue, but it doesn't seem like the upgrade completed. While it shows the new bios version before post, entering into the bios still shows the old version. Viewing the system information in vista also shows the old biOS version.

What should I do?

Reflashed the bios, still receive the same message, CMOS checksum bad. Again, AMIBIOS shows updated bios version on initial boot screen, it recognizes SATA and DVD drives, memory, etc. then displays CMOS bad message. It gives the option to go to setup or load defaults. When I go to set up, set up shows the old bios version.

So somehow, there is an incomplete flash happening. It seems to be partly completed. Now I am in limbo. If I go into set up and change the date and time, it boots fine, after a little longer period of time, but I don't want to go through this on every boot.

 

When you enter BIOS have you tried hitting Load Defaults and then Saving and Exiting? The text file accompanying the update gives this advice below:

Yes, I have tried to load the defaults and save the settings. In doing so, the checksum message is gone, but the bios version still displays two different versions.

The splash screen shows the updated version, the bios itself when entering shows the older version, and vista also displays the older version when booted.

I don't understand what's happening.

 

Flash the previous functioning BIOS version.
