oh and bare in mind extremely high doses of caffeine—between 5,000 and 10,000 milligrams—can produce convulsions and death

How strong do you make it ( how many tablespoons )?

Most likely the 5k-10k mg of caffine is all in one go or within a short space of time, not even I would have that much coffee and I like mine should I say Espresso in a mug strenth ( normally 2 and a bit heaped teaspoons per mug of a 100% blend ) but I'm now down to say 4-5 mugs a day some days less.

You sure? I was recently reading on a health website that caffeine had no apparent dangerous effects.

The medical paper I read was similar to below, highly doubt anyone would be drinking that much caffiene in such as short period of time ( you'd be looking at 50+ cups ) , but like almost everything excess is not good.

Nah guys...you're doing it all wrong! :p None of this "teaspoons" of instant coffee crap. Break out the real java and get the coffee machine working. It really does help the short term memory :) I make mine...get in the car, drive to the office, sit down at my PC, read my personal e-mail and MGs as I drink my coffee, and then an hour later as the coffee kicks and my short term memory starts operating I realise I'm at work and meant to be working ! lol

Man your missing out just use less coffee, put more milk in or use lightly roasted fresh beans, once you get it right it tastes better than it smells ,almost,I think, cant decide :)

My mum always goes on about stores a few decades ago sprinkling ground coffee on the floor to make you spend more and it was outlawed! ,I aint googled it yet so I dont know if its fact or myth :)

Most people I know have milk in coffee,I always thought weak black coffee was an american thing, did you drink black coffee when you lived in england Lev

I hate weak coffee, and yeah, I have drunk black coffee for many years. I also drink tea black. I'm lactose intolerant. But having said that I drank black coffee well before I was diagnosed :)

Americans know how to make excellent tasting strong coffee....it's their Budweiser that's as weak as gnat's pee :p

I also can't stand milk in coffee or tea, it destroys the flavour.

    It also costs more. :)

I hate instant coffee too. It's a plunger and Lavatzza for me only.

Sorry to rattle on, but I'm very particular about my beverages. :)

I drink fruit flavoured herbal teas without milk but I have to have milk in ordinary tea, probably because I use a 2 cup yorkshire teabag and leave it for 5 mins

Lev if you dont mind me asking what are the symptoms of being lactose intolerant?

I don;t know where you guys are getting your "american" coffee from but it's obviously not the right place :D

No danger of me drinking 61 cups in a day lol

@Rikky......ack! Yorkshire tea....you need clotted cream in that to make it drinkable heheh. Symptoms? Each person can be different, but for me it's upset stomach, stomach cramps, joint pains and muscle weakness.

The majority of Asians are lactose intolerant, which is why you don't see milk or dairy used much in their recipes.

American coffee should taste great as the best beans only have to travel from south america,I bet you can go from picked, roasted and shipped in two days, the coffee I get has been stood on a shelf for weeks
