For the last 10 years I have had problems with the color scheme when I do a search with Google.a problem with Links that I have not clicked on appear in light blue, and links that I have clicked on appear in light purple . The difference is very subtle as shown in this image:

It has been this way with 3 different monitors, operating systems, and computers.
Some time ago I tried to change the color for followed links by setting them to Red. The followed link color did change, but several other items in the Windows user interface also appeared in red, so I reverted to the original color scheme.
Has anybody else experienced this problem and if so, how did they fix it?

    Specify what browser.
On my computer in Palemoon and Firefox, visited links remain blue. Palemoon is my day to day browser.
In IE and Vivaldi they turn from blue to purple, same as yours.

Firefox and Edge in Win 10, both turn from blue to purple. Palemoon in Puppy Linux it's the same. Don't understand why it's a problem, unless colour blindness prevents you from distinguishing one from the other.

You can change the colours in your browser's settings/options.

it's Google remembering your search history that is why it goes from blue to purple. you need to turn google search history off.

It's also the case in Edge, which doesn't use Google search, it uses Bing.

Bing also keeps your search history you need to change it in settings on both search engines.

@plodr - I'm using Firefox 68.0.2, and I have the same problem in IE.

    @ Earthling - I'm not colorblind (;))

@ Eldon - Yes, I did try changing the colors some time ago. That changed the color of the followed link, but also changed the color elsewhere on my system. Unfortunately, the color change was evident when I was not using other applications. Sorry, I can't recall the exact details, just that it was very annoying. I changed it back.

@sexyandy81 - Is Search History the same thing that I see when I click FF's History in the menus? If not, then I'll try that option. I do find that the search history is helpful, especially across previous incidences of Google,.

Changing the colours in the browser doesn't change system colours.

If you use Firefox, click Tools > Options, scroll down and under Fonts & Colours click Colours.

I concur with Eldon. Changing the color inside the browser as Eldon shows above should not change any system colors.
If you change colors in the system, then of course they will change and probably not do a thing in the browser.

For Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then Internet Options. On the General tab, look at the bottom and click on Colors. You'll get something like this.
    IE_settings.jpg
You need to remove the check/tick from Use Windows colors and specify what you want.
Be sure to click OK before you close that popup window.

I found out what was not working right after changing the colors of the visited links to a bright magenta and the "Override the colors..." to "Always". The visited links did indeed have bright magenta as their color, but then every website I went to had a white background like this one:

    2019-09-03_10-41-30.png

When I changed the "Override the colors..." back to "Only with High Contrast themes" all of the websites returned to their original colors, but my Changed Link color reverted to the hard-to-see light purple, making it difficult to differentiate them from the unvisited links. That was the problem I originally had.

This problem does not show itself if I use IE as my browser.

So it appears that in using Firefox, I cannot change the colors of the Changed Link without changing the colors of the website to white. What am I missing here?

I just checked and unfortunately that's what we're stuck with in Firefox, Pale Moon and probably every other browser.
And it's not the browsers' fault.
Changing the browser's default colours will inevitably change the colours of all web pages, not just those of the search results.

    Try DuckDuckGo.

Thank you for your replies. Being as how I visit the Snagit forum rarely, I think I'll just use IE if and when I need to post something on that forum. ;)
