Column Headings in Win Explorer

SOMEBODY PLEEZE tell me there is a way to change the column headings in Win Explorer whenever the folder you're looking in contains audio files the headings don't follow the normal headings as when you have "normal" data. Instead they're headed by useless headings that really don't offer ANY help at all. What's worse is you have to change EVERY FREAKIN' folder that has such info. It is THE MOST FRUSTRATING when I want to sort files, but before I do I have to change the headings. :banghead:banghead My ultimate question: Is there ANY way I can make that change ONCE and forget it?

Try tinkering with the Folder Options under the View tab
Should be an option to set to all folders

rjordan has given you what you need to get the column headings sorted for a music folder but it will only work when viewing the folder in the folder tree, such as C:\Users\<username>\Music. It will not work when viewing the Music folder in Libraries > Music, as that will continue to display the default column headings. However if you right click the bar with the column headings in Libraries > Music you can choose what column headings you want. This applies to other libraries too.

I found the solution by Rt clicking on the hard drive, then Properties/Customized and putting chkmark on apply General Settings to ALL subfolders.

FYI, just a friendly suggestion the forum where I found my solution had a nice big button at the bottom of the Reply box that said "SOLVED". Not complaining, but that would just make things SO much easier.

You've lost me. There is no drive Properties/Customized tab or button in Win Explorer in Win 7x64 (Pro)

Does your solution also change the presentation in Libraries?

mmm...yes and no. The previous pic was my OS drive, and here is my data drive, with the Customize tab. As I've previously moved all my special folders from C to my data partition Win 7 seems to have noticed and removed the tab as no longer being necessary on C. I assume the tab is only there for those that keep their data folders on the OS drive.

Well, that seems unnecessarily prejudicial of Windows. Actually, I've wanted to move those folders off of my system drive but haven't gotten around to researching how to do it.
How did you "migrate" them to your data drive? Just copy and paste, drag and drop, via Send To menu, what? Or is it more complicated than that?

I think it's OK to discuss this here since the OP seems to have gotten his answer and bailed out of the thread.

All of the 'special folders' have a Location tab - I just use that. As I dual boot I need a common set of data folders shared by both OSs, but this arrangement also makes both system imaging and data backups a lot quicker and more straightforward.
