Com Ports confused

    Running XP, SP2, IE 6.0.29
    Ram 320 MB, 120 Gig Hard Drive, Intel Celeron 1.0 Gig

    Device mgr shows 3 Com ports, Com1; Com1 with a yellow spot, Com3.
    My modem is on Com3.
    I put in another modem, recognized by the system, but controlpanel shows on Com4.

    What's going on?

    it is a normal thing at amoment at your modem set at com4, but when you take it out then put other modem in it will auto matically plug to com5,6,7,8......Althought your computer get com1 & 2 only your old modem device will be not present .... :)
