    re Webroot
    "ComboFix 12-01-21.02 - ..... x86 NETWORK
Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.247.137 [GMT -8:00]
    Running from: c:\documents and settings\...\Desktop\ComboFix.exe
    ....AV: Webroot SecureAnywhere *Enabled/Updated* {D486329C-1488-4CEB-9CC8-D662B732D904}"

This is new, my PC is slowed down, and I haven't knowingly installed webroot, nor can I locate it in my PC. I run AVAST Free AV right now.... Any ideas about webroot?

ComboFix often reports things as running that are not. It can just be this bug in ComboFix. However if that registry entry exists for security centery then this software from Webroot was installed at some point. You did not have to install a package directly from Webroot. Lavasoft ( Ad-aware ) also use this.

If you think your PC is having malware problems, you need follow the instructions in the below. ComboFix should never be the first thing you run

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

However if this is the same PC you posted in the malware forum for back in November, your PC is slow because you have about 1/8 of the recommended amout of memory for Windows XP SP3 and other moderm programs you need to run. Your logs showed
    Code:
    Total Physical Memory 256.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 54.52 MB
Did you ever update your memory???? The 1 GB thisisu stated is an absolute minimum. To get the best performance 2 GB or more should be added.

    Thank you for your response.

OK, I'll take your word on that. However, when I ran Combofix in Safe Mode (only) that webroot software didn't show up....but did in Normal mode...(I did run a webroot removal tool, but it apparently found nothing to remove)....and the reason that I became concerned about this, was that previous Combofix runs did not show this item. Yes, Combofix was updated in between....and maybe that's an answer....

LOL! Actually, having used Combofix several times to get out junk that Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, etc etc don't touch....Combofix is my go-to #1 approach....

Same PC...however, I CAN tell when the PC runs slower than normal....

Yes, I need to add memory....I presume the Hardware forum is the best source for learning what I need to do...(other than MAYBE plugging in a 16 GB thumbdrive, which I think I read about somewhere...)

    Yes.

This does not add memory. It adds removable disk drive space which is not going to help you.
