Comcast ... 30 minute reset.. sucks...

In the past - week or so, i've been having the annual ... ip release/renew .

i do many things online that require a constant stream, mostly games - css, online poker etc.

so this is really a problem.
i researched it a bit ago, my symptoms match theirs completely.
Apparently what's happening, is comcast gave me a 30 minute "contract" on my ip or whatever.
So every 30 mins, comcast releases/renews . which causes me to disconnect from whatever i'm doing.

This has happened for the past week or so, it is incredibly annoying

A: does anybody else have this problem
B: what can i do about it?

my solution would be to call them but right now it's a bit late, so i was wondering if there was a way to manually fix this ?

I'm running ubuntu 8.10, however every pc thats connected to this connection does this.

SAVE ME.

 

Rumor is that Comcast does this during maintenance times.
Rather than you being completely disconnected for a long time they bump you around to different nodes.

It should end once Comcast is done with whatever they are fixing.

 

Comcast Customer Service is 24hr service

You might be having Modem problems, Comcast can check this while your on the phone talking to them....
