Comcast Antispyware Won't Go Away!

Okay, so now that I have my own place, I use Comcast Cable for my Internet connection. It comes with free Norton Security Suite, so I figured what the hell, it's free. Unfortunately, Comcast also comes with an automatic antispy software that runs in the background and takes things up to 100% CPU usage constantly. (I can see it's the culprit by looking in Task Manager.)

I know from my experience with you that having more than one antispy program in the background is bad for security reasons, but this is causing issues with my CPU usage, too! I tried disabling it in services, but one of the processes (it had 2 entries on the list before I disabled it) still starts itself even when the listed service is disabled! ARRRGH!

Please, help me! I'm low on disk space, something I'm working to fix (lots of IncrediMail folders to empty from as far back as 2005), so the last thing I need is unnecessary bullsh*t running on my computer!

Thanks so much for your help,

I have used Comcast since 2004. I do not have Comcast's software installed anywhere; obviously you do not need it to connect (5 computers in the house connect to the internet; 2 do not have internet access).

The closest I got to Norton lately was a trial on a new computer I bought last October. I used both the Norton Removal tool and Revo Uninstaller to scape it off the computer. I think I used Revo first then followed it up by using the Norton cleanup tool. I rebooted After Revo was done - do not reboot during the removal (there will be 4 steps to the process).

Well, you're going to have to tell me how to get online without Comcast's software because when it comes to getting online independently of my provider's recommendations, I'm an idiot. Considering I have to call them for any issues with it and I may well have to do that a lot because my apartment has poor cable wiring, I am very reticent to rid myself of the entire software package.

Why can't I just remove Comcast Antispy? There is an independent process by that name. Why do I have to remove the entire Comcast software package? I have both Comcast Internet and a Ubee wireless router, and I had to have a technician come to help set them up because of the poor cabling in my apartment complex. If I have to have someone come again, it's going to cost me at LEAST $50.

    Thanks for your help,

Comcast Antispy comes along with Comcast's toolbar. Just downloaded it.
From task manager right click either of the two processes. Click on "Open file location". A window will open see the screen shot below. Click uninstall.

On the other hand you should not need the toolbar. If you choose to uninstall. Use Revo to remove it.
Do not reboot when the uninstaller prompts. Select reboot later. Then hit next. Check the high lighted entries only and hit delete.

    Cheers..

Well, when I right click on a process, I don't get the "Open file location" option; I just get two different "End process" options. I'll do the Revo thing.

Thank you SO MUCH for doing the hunting for me! You're wonderful!
