Comcast High speed vs Dlink DIR-615

Bought a Dlink DIR-615 wireless router. It has an ethernet Internet port and 4 Ethernet output ports
I connected the internet port to my comcast modem (Terayon TJ725)
I connected my PC to port #1 on the Dlink

Issue: I cannot access the internet ("Page cannot be displayed").

Steps: I connected to http://192.168.0.1/, logged in, and ran the automatic configuration. I selected Dynamic IP address. I copied the MAC address and typed in my host name "gx6204gb"
I've cycled power to the modem and router, always waiting for the modem to connect first. I've tried rebooting
I noticed the IP address of the computer gets changed to 192.*.*.*

If I bypass the router and hook my PC straight to the modem it changes IP and gateway to a 66.176.*.* address and the internet works.

Comcast "reboot-support" hasn't got a clue, tells me to call DLINK

Please help! I am noobish when it comes to IPs and Subnets and all that mess.

    update:
I was playing with the DLINK settings and I inserted numbers manually based on my LAN settings. And the internet light came on
    Router IP Address : 66.176.0.1
    Subnet Mask : 255.255.248.0
    Device Name : dlinkrouter
    Local Domain Name :
    Enable DNS Relay : yes
    Enable DHCP Server : yes
DHCP IP Address Range : 66.176.0.2 to 66.176.0.199
DHCP Lease Time : 10080 (minutes)
Always broadcast : yes (compatibility for some DHCP Clients)
the only way I can make the internet light come on (on the DLink) is to set up a static IP of 66.176.*.* (i used the IP that I am currently assigned)
Even after the light comes on I still have no internet

    &*@^&*!@#%&!!!

    I can't get it working
The wireless light flashes steadily every second
    the internet light flashes quickly.
It keeps telling me my LAN is connected but I cannot ping my DHCP or DNS server. I can't do dick through this router but if I connect straight to the modem I am fine.
    WTF!

    Hi!

Is it still a problem? I also have problem with DNS lookups and have a workaround. :)
Sometimes Firefox (or Explorer) falis to show internet pages.

I recently bought a new DIR-615. Installed it and it worked fine.
I gave my old Netger 54Mbit/s router away.

Then sometimes I can't access webpages on internet. I pulled out my network cable and reconnected it, then it worked. Then last time it didn't.

I found out it was DNS lookup failure.
My PC had the routers IP as DNS (proxy) server.
I checked the router "status" and got the two DNS server numbers, entered them in IP configuration in my PC running Win XP.
    It worked fine!!

This must be a bug in D-Link DIR 615 as I restarted both ZyXEL ADSL modem and then the router and the problem remained. It could be a windows truble as well but the troubles started after I changed to this D-Link router, and I haven't had any problem for the last 3 years using the same computer and Netgear router.

I also tried to put my IP interface configuration to "Get DNS servers automatic" but it still got my own manualy entered DNS servers. This must however be a fault in Windows XP DNS lookup cache functionality.

An other Win 2000 computer works fine today using default automatic settings.
I uses router ip for DNS and DHCP and it works well (today, not always upp n running).

    There are also some pitfalls:
Your router or computer might be "locked out" by ISP for some time (eg. 20min) when changing router or direct connect computer to modem.

    Solution:
Configure router to use Host MAC adress. Then ISP can't see if it's your PC or modem.

Or take a cup of coffe for half an our...
