........Come on already!!!!!!

My Win XP Pro has started to act up. I have decided to clean up my hard drive and delete some folders which contain programs that I downloaded previously. The thing is it takes about two minutes for Windows to return the "Are you sure...?" message. I notice that even when I click on "customize this folder" it does the same long slooow response.

I do frequent virus scans and also have Spy Sweeper, SpyBot and a couple other such programs installed so I know that no known virus or spyware is causing the prob.
All help would be appreciated.

 

I Think you need to check your Taskmanager and see if a running process is taking up a lot of memory or using up a lot of CPU cycles
Also see if it behaves the same in safe mode
Post back with any results

How much room do you have on your hard drive?
Another thing I would try is to
Disable System Restore > Reboot > Enable System Restore (then create new restore point). That'll clear any junk out of your SVI folder.

 

Thanks for all the help guys. As it turns out it was a program that I installed back in December called PGP (Pretty Good Privacy); I believe thats what the initials mean. I dont know what it was doing but my virus/firewall/spybot seem to think it was normal behaviour. Anyway I wasn't using it so - out it goes. Whew!! Speed is good.
