    I have no idea where to put this thread, but i hope im pretty close.
    i want to build my dream pc,this is the setup.

    ABIT AN8 32X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 2.6GHz Socket 939 CPU
    CORSAIR XMS 1GB 184-Pin DDR (4 of them)
    ASPIRE X-DISCOVERY-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
    ASPIRE ATX-AS680W-BL ATX12V/ EPS12V 680W Power Supply
    LG Black 16X DVD-ROM 52X CD-ROM E-IDE/ATAPI DVD-ROM Drive
    SAMSUNG 16X DVD±R DVD Burner With 5X DVD-RAM Write and LightScribe
    Western Digital Raptor 74GB 3.5"Hard Drive (2 in raid 0)
    XFX PVT71UZDF9 Geforce 7950GX2 1GB (2 in sli)
    (sorry for the strange discriptions, i copyed them straight from newegg's)

    anyway, if anyone could comment on this,tell me about something better, what i could do without,do i need 4 gb of ram, is it better to have 1 fast optical drive and a seperate burner, anything, it would be greatly appreciated

    the overall cost was only about 3,000 for all of the above too

    Windows cannot take advantage of that much RAM no matter what you do. You will only get full advantage from it if you run Linux/Unix.

    i thought windows could take up to 8 gigs

    XP Pro will support 4GB.
    2GB is way more than enough for most mortals.
