Commercial DVD Freezes Computer

I think this is a video card problem, which is wht I'm running it here. However, if anyone thinks I should be posting this somewhere else, please let me know.

Whenever I try to play a commercial DVD in my computer, my computer freezes. I notice that when I try to access the disk through “My Computer”, or even run “My Computer”, the computer freezes then too. I can’t even get out of ‘My Computer” through the Task Manager … I end up having to reboot. When I start the computer in Safe Mode, I don’t have that problem … I can access the commercial DVD easily. Recently, I ran into the same problem with an installation disk.

I am running XP Pro on an AMD Athlon 64-bit 3000+ processor. My video card is a Radeon X300 Series.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

 

Is it one particular dvd, or multiple ones? I have the similar problems with 2 new dvds, but my old ones don't.

 

It seems to be most DVD's ... some work, but very few. Again, they all work fine in safe mode.

 

Maybe your video drivers are corrupt? Check your event logs to see if there's an error message associated with the event. Has this been always this way?

 

No error messages ... it just freezes. I'm afraid I can't pinpoint when it started. I'll try to reinstall my video drivers, though.
